On a rainy day I sat at the piano and asked my favourite narrator, the piano, to share some stories.
4 piano stories. For you.

Sette squilli brevi e uno lungo
A performance by and with Alexander Ananasso and Antimo Magnotta 13/1/2020 at Fidelio orchestra cefe, London Original script and music by Antimo Magnotta Artistic director Alexander Ananasso Eight years ago tonight, the Costa Concordia hit a rock underwater, it slowly tilted and then sank off the beautiful Isola del Giglio in Italy. 32 people died. A story of stories that will take you there, with poetry, farce and tragedy. Antimo Magnotta is a real-life survivor to the Costa Concordia shipwreck in which 32 people died, and he chose, since, to go back to that journey through the piano: he collects life stories and intimately narrates them, giving voice to his own reflections and the travel companions he meets. Passengers and crew-members; people always have something to say or confess, a gap in the memory to fill or something they need to share. Just like destiny. A microcosm suspended on the water that floats with a care-free lightness between on-board grotesque parties and hilarious galas, illuminating the night with its marvellous cargo until the sudden and unexpected appearance of Isola del Giglio on the night of January thirteenth and the sinister sound of seven short blasts and one long, which drastically interrupt the fairy tale on the sea, bringing it to a dramatic end. The poetic voice of his distant daughter, little Sonia, will be the one memory to motivate Antimo during his daring escape from the sinking ship. The performance is in Italian. A gentleman approaches me at the piano whilst I'm playing. - Wow, what's the title of this piece? - It's my own composition, "Laura's smile" from my latest album "Museum" - I love it! I don't know her but she must be beautiful... He took these pictures and sent them over to me. Russ Roberts is his name. Later on I found out he's a famous economist and author. Today is my father's birthday. Feeling good. THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING
A musical tribute to the unforgettable 60s, one of the most intense periods in modern history. From the Vietnam war to Mary Quant’s Swinging London. A decade that has changed the way we live Helena Simpson - voice Antimo Magnotta - piano My concert in France.
Playing highlights from my latest album "Museum" and improvising with live electronics, loop pedal and found objects. Merci beaucoup for the lovely support Corinne Mabileau, Guilhem Kuczynski Claudio, Juliette, Christine, Big George and the adorable audience (including two cats and a giant rabbit strolling in the garden...). Piano City is a widespread festival entirely dedicated to the piano. The city is transformed into an immense stage and pianists are performing everywhere: metro stations, churchs, courtyards, on the beach (like myself), historical places, caves, gardens, castles, squares, private venues, hospitals. A very unique event.
